According to a study, more than a third of Mediterranean wetlands are threatened by sea level rise. The research, published in the journal « Ecological Indicators, » found that 37% of Mediterranean wetlands are at risk of being lost by 2100 due to sea level rise caused by climate change. The study used data from the Mediterranean Wetlands Observatory and considered different sea level rise scenarios. The results highlight the importance of taking action to protect these valuable ecosystems, which provide numerous benefits to both biodiversity and human well-being.
